The remote is LED and lights up on use. Not bright, but bright enough.
You sync with bluetooth by pressing the bluetooth button on the remote and the bluetooth button on the soundbar. The soundbar continues to scan for devices, even after it's added the remote. It may support more functionality than my speaker's menu system, but the functionality I need is there.
